Two Ways To Make Your Exterior Paint Job Less Tiring
There are not many remodels that are as simple as a paint job. The beauty of a paint job is that the labor is simple, you don't need particular training, the tools and supplies are affordable, and work isn't too physical. Basically, it is a project that any family looking for a cheap and easy remodel can handle. It is worth mentioning that painting exterior surfaces is a little more difficult than painting the inside of your house. This article give you a few helpful tips for more effective and professional looking exterior paint job.
Renting a Scaffolding System
The first thing you need to realize about exterior painting is that it is more demanding physically. That is, it takes longer and you need to spend more time climbing up and down a ladder. You can reduce a lot of the stress if you invest in a small, portable scaffolding system. Obviously, you don't need a full scale system to paint a normal-sized house. You can buy or rent a small, wheeled system that will be surprisingly easy to set up and move around.
When you have scaffolding, the job is far easier because you don't need to figure out how to hold the paint and all of the supplies, while you are climbing up and down a ladder. Not only that, you will be much more sure-footed and safer when painting from a scaffolding deck instead of the top of the ladder.
Using a Spraygun
Another thing you should consider, is renting a pneumatic spraygun. Painting with spray guns is particularly helpful when working on exterior jobs. First of all, exterior surfaces are usually much rougher, making it hard to get full coverage with a traditional paint rollers. On top of this, sprayguns enable you to get the paint onto the walls much more quickly. It does require more prep work which can be time consuming, but actually getting your paint onto the walls goes at least twice as fast as using paint rollers.
Just like with the scaffolding, you will probably need to rent a pneumatic spraygun system. Buying one is probably not the most cost effective choice, but you will be surprised how affordable they have become.
You can probably rent your spraygun and scaffolding system from the same store. With the scaffolding and a spraygun, your paint job will be much more manageable and less tiring.
